Welcome to Ozark Mountain Preparedness, LLC! Our mission is to provide the highest quality instructional courses to people who desire to pursue a self-reliant lifestyle; whether in the wilds or right at home. By blending both modern and primitive methods into our curriculum, we offer a comprehensive and practical view of survival and preparedness. Our course topics include wilderness and urban survival, fur trapping, bushcraft, primitive skills, long-term wilderness living, land navigation, home disaster preparation, outdoor cooking, food procurement and storage, foraging, wild edibles, and others.
The Ozark Mountain Preparedness Basecamp is located in Berryville, Arkansas. We are situated about 20 minutes from Eureka Springs AR, 45 minutes from Branson MO, 1 1/2 hours from Springfield MO, and about an hour from Fayetteville AR. There are several airports nearby and shuttle service is available for a nominal fee. We operate on nearly 30,000 acres of prime Ozark wilderness. The hardwood timbered hills, steep limestone bluffs, diverse flora and fauna, and plentiful waterways provide an ideal classroom that is abundant in resources all year long. The weather is generally mild with temps ranging from the mid-90's in the summer to low 20's in the winter. Although based in the Ozarks, we have extensive experience in others areas and can travel if need be!
What makes Ozark Mountain Preparedness, LLC different than other survival schools? We are not a group of hobby survivalists that turned into instructors overnight. Our staff all live the lifestyle they promote and are passionate about sharing that real-world knowledge with the students. The cadre of instructors has worked and lived in the Ozarks, Desert Southwest, Rocky Mountain West, Alaska, Southeastern United States, the Adirondacks, and abroad. They are professional, friendly people who will go above and beyond to ensure students understand the skills/concepts demonstrated.
Our courses are family friendly! You won't find inflated egos or foul language coming from our instructors. Instead, we strive to foster a learning environment that is open and welcoming to people of all walks of life and skill levels. Our courses are family friendly with the minimum age required to attend set at 13 with adult participation. Custom courses are available for the entire family where there is no age restriction. Our student to instructor ratio never exceeds 6:1 and our course sizes never exceed 12 participants. This is to ensure that every student receives the highest quality training possible and the personal instruction they deserve. We hope to develop a relationship with each and every student that does not end when the course is over; ideally becoming a continual resource for folks as they work towards self-reliance. Over 85% of our students return for additional training!
Ozark Mountain Preparedness provides a safe training environment! All instructors are trained to a minimum emergency medical standard of Advanced Wilderness First Aid. Every course begins with a safety briefing and there is a fully stocked medical kit onsite should it be needed. For additional safety considerations, there is no alcohol or illegal drugs allowed on any of course offerings.
We offer private and custom courses! Onsite instruction is available anywhere in the United States. Ozark Mountain Preparedness, LLC does not offer any tactical training to the general public or train paramilitary/militia groups.
